Vian Senior, Javier Ramos, was selected to receive the prestigious Ferguson Jenkins Award. This award recognizes five outstanding Oklahoma hgh school baseball players based on citizenship and athletic ability. One outstanding baseball coach is also recognized. These prestigious awards are presented in honor of Ferguson Jenkins, who was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991, after an illustrious 19-year career. Jenkins made Oklahoma home for many years while he coached the Oklahoma City 89ers. 

Javier was one of five winners for 2017 to include Braxton Bohrofen of Westmoore; Ryan Gendron of Bishop Kelley; Carson Orton of Heritage Hall; and Tyler Polk of Duncan. Coach Joe Patterson of Westmoore was chosen as Outstanding Baseball Coach.
