7th Graders are learning all about plants!

Germination is the process by which a plant grows from a seed. The most common example of germination is the sprouting of a seedling from a seed of an angiosperm or gymnosperm. We are observing this process using soy beans planted in old cd cases! Check out our progress in the pictures below!

Day 1 : Students planted soy bean seeds in top soil and misted thoroughly with water. They then sealed up three sides of the cd cases with masking tape.

Two days later we have growth!

5 Days of growth

We are noticing root growth following gravitopism. This is the response of the plant to Earth’s gravitational field.
