Vian FFA Wins State FFA Homesite Judging Career Development Event

STILLWATER, Okla. — Members of the Vian FFA Chapter won first place in the State FFA Homesite Judging Career Development Event during the 2021 Oklahoma FFA Career Development Events at Oklahoma State University. Due to Covid restrictions the contest was held off campus this year at El Reno on Friday April 16th.

Team members were Jathan Brockman, Jasey Ecker, Madison Ross and Cason Wright. Brockman and Ross tied for high individual honors, while Wright and Ecker received sixth and ninth high individual honors, respectively. Brockman and Ross also received a $1000 cash scholarship to be redeemed upon enrollment in the college of their choice.

The Vian agricultural education instructor and FFA advisor is Trent Trotter.

The homesite judging career development event consists of four sites for which the soil characteristics are judged and correct treatment or limitations identified.

The OSU College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences hosted the contest. The sponsor for the contest is the Oklahoma FFA Alumni Association.
