Go Wolverines!
In January of 2006 I began my educational career as a teachers assistant with the Vian Middle School.
By November of 2009 I had the opportunity to become Vian Elementary’s Pre-K teacher. I enjoyed my time teaching 4-5 year olds from 2009-2017.
I am a wife and mother of two children!
I am a firm believer that everything starts in the HOME! The home is a vital part of everyday learning for all its members of the household. Parents are their children’s first caregivers, teachers, community leaders, etc. My career goal has always been to help students expand on their knowledge of what a good home should be for its members, their future, and society. In any culture, a good home enviornment is key for not only surviving, but thriving!
Family and Consumer Sciences is the original “Adulting 101”! The ever so popular phrase, “Bring back Home Economics!” is incorrect. “Home Ec.” has been and continues to be in full swing in our schools all over the state and the U.S. The name “Home Ec.”, however, changed to Famliy and Consumer Sciences in 1994. Other subjects have been added to the traditional sewing construction and food preparation courses, such as, Soft Skills/Careers, Parenting, Child Development, etc.
The traditional student organization of Future Homemakers of America (FHA) transitioned into Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) in 1999-2000. Many changes have been made to accomodate the ever changing, dinamic world we thrive in today.
I am proud to be a part of Oklahoma CareerTech and Vian Public Schools!
