I started with Cookson Hills Headstart in 1999 as a aid, then was hired as the 3 year old Pre K Teacher in 2007 for Vian Public Schools, and most recently accepted the position of JOM- Liasion.Children are our future, at any age andI feel its a very important investment to spend time with a child. I cherish all the little people I come in contact with. I love Dr.Seuss’s quote ”A person's a person no matter how small" I try and teach children as I hope others care for and taught my kids and teach my grandchildren now, with love and respect.
I began working in 1999, with Cookson Hills Head Start as Assistant Teacher.
Prior to Head Start, I worked as a Substitue Teacher in all grade levels, and decided on Elementary as where I wanted to be. I work with all ages , I am the Jr. High Sunday School Teacher at the church I attend. I work with the HIgh School Kids also because, they have been my past students and come back to update me on their life acheivements.:) I also am a prayer partner to Beau Burlison for Jr High and HIgh School kids, for “Fellowship of Christian Athlete’s”
We, my husband Dwayne Smith and I have been married for 37 years, we both graduated from Vian HIgh School. We have lived and raised our 4 children here in Vian. Our children have all graduated fron Vian HIgh School. We have 9 Grandchildren, 2 attend Vian Elementary, and we are still proud to be Wolverines!!!!! Kids kids kids !!! In the whole process of our life we have a small farm, with horses, cows, chickens, goats, dogs, rabbits. We weren’t busy enough and we were given the opportunity to become foster parents. We have had teenagers to infants pass through our lives and our home, most of all our hearts. We have been blessed with 2 other children which we adopted, they are precious to us. I would like to encourage others to share in the life of a child, contact your local DHS or Indian Child Welfare office to become a foster parent :)
I am proud to be a Native American , I am a descendant of Comanche , Cherokee, Creek and Caucasian. I grew up attending and paticipating in Pow wows and stomp dances, with my family.
I hope to share the most current information I can get, to encourage all ethnic backgrounds the importance of learning and sharing in our diverse community. In our school system we have 12 different tribes. I am gathering information from all of the tribes to provide each individual student historical informatiom, cultural, present information of programs provided by your tribe. I am excited to be working with the students and with each family .
My biggest hobby is getting my family together. I started our family reunions and have since handed it down to the younger generation.
I love doing geneolgy research, and hope I can encourage others to research and find their own connections to their history.
